Summer 2010 RoadTrip

We've been friends for a decade:

YEAH! That's what I thought too when we did the math in Duluth, the first location of our Road Trip.
(that's really the face I made and had to reenact for ms. photography!)

1st Stop: My cabin.
Mostly just for a free place to sleep, but we did hit up the hot tub at night.

2nd Stop: Duluth
We hoped to travel ALL of The 7 Bridge Road while there, but we only covered about 1/3 of it, because of construction.

Capturing this allow the way:
(...and many more of course, that won't be shown)
Beautiful View of Lake Superior

We did some a lot of bumming up and down the streets, window shopping, and even some trying on.

If only we each had $80.00 to spend on these oh so cute boots!

After driving, bumming the streets, and relaxing by the lake we had to get ready for our Dressed Up Night Out in Duluth. But where....?
Of course, after a day of wind and sun, we did need some pretty serious fixin' up. But really, where would we do that?

"We could try Caribou's bathroom?"
"Do they even  have outlets in there?"
"Well if all else fails we could just get ready out in the lobby where there are outlets."

We were desperate.

One of us was brilliant enough to think of the hotel right on the shore. That same brilliant one wasn't a bit scared to use a restroom in a hotel we weren't paying for.

But we did it!!

And locked the door, for at least 20 minutes.
An old lady was not happy with us when we heard a knock, not once, but several times.
Oh, her face when we walked out...

But look:

It was SO worth it!

Of course a road trip is NOT complete without stopping randomly. ....especially with my dear Rachie.

Story: She didn't just stop at this beautiful picture, she went to explore the house. I, went to the car and ate chips while I waited.
...There was barbed wire, okay?!

3rd Stop: Forestville State Park/Mystery Caves

We were, by far the kind of people who takes pictures, talks, and has way too much fun, during a serious, well-mannered underground tour.

See:

After the hour tour, we headed to our campsite and pitched our my brother's tent.

Then we walked and walked. Discovering, taking pictures, talking, laughing, and admiring God's creation.

We walked for a good three hours. Completely appreciating the not so well-designed map. Oh dear, the maps!

More driving and more random stopping. Even to pick flowers and take a picture:

4th Stop: Upper Sioux Agency State Park

Who can say they've slept in a teepee? A TEEPEE!?

We totally can! It was SO much fun. Literally one other group was there, but we didn't mind them. We talked and laughed into the late hours of the night. ...even finding it funny that we had to spray bug spray around the perimeter of our shelter for the night.

We did lots more hiking, with poor maps, and picture taking here as well. Beautiful, I tell you!

I couldn't have ask for better quality spent time with my best friend, of TEN years!

I know, that's what I thought!
